As Salaamu Alaykum wa Rahmatullahi wa Barakaatu
My name is Zubaidah Abdul-Muhaymin and for the past 25 years I have been teaching in the classroom and working with ESL students and students with learning disabilities (autism, mental & social delay, ADD/ADHD). As well as developing and establishing a core curriculum conducive with state requirements for elementary, secondary, and high school levels. I have spent the last eight years implementing a technology/ academic structure and developing and incorporating the Individual Educational Program (IEP) of students with Individual Educational Needs and participating in IEP and Individual Transition Plan (ITP) meetings. I also review and evaluate teaching and learning strategies, methodologies, and program(s) in line with the National Curriculum guidelines.
Education:
I hold several degrees in the field of Education, Technology, and Psychology, including a master’s degree in education with a specialty in Teaching English Language Learners, and Curriculum Development. A bachelor’s degree in in Education with a specialty in English Literature and Educational Psychology, and a degree in Computer Science. Inshaa Allah, I plan to pursue my doctorate degree in Education in the near future.
My role at Tooba Academy North:
• Oversee the curriculum and execute an education plan that meets the needs of students and satisfy the requirements of federal, state, and local regulations.
• Make recommendations to teachers and other faculty regarding the ways in which various subjects are being taught in order to enhance learning.
• Act as an evaluator of curriculum teams and the roles played by the team leaders and members.
• Provide guidance to teachers on effective instructional strategies, differentiation, and assessment methods.
• Coordinate the adoption of new curriculum materials across all subject areas.
• Train teachers in the use of technology tools to enhance teaching and learning.
My Goals
• Foster a culture of lifelong learning among teachers through ongoing professional development opportunities.
• Promote a culture of inquiry and critical thinking among students through the curriculum.
• Promote student-centered learning through the curriculum by encouraging inquiry-based
instruction and collaboration among students.
• Encourage teachers to incorporate real-world examples and experiences into the curriculum to make it more relevant to students' lives.
• Advocate for the needs of underrepresented groups in the curriculum, including minority students, English language learners, and students with disabilities.
• Encourage teachers to incorporate student voice and choice into the curriculum to promote engagement and ownership of learning.
